Obedience & Agility Classes

Obedience Classes

  • Basic Obedience Class will teach you how to train your dog.  You will learn the basic skills: sit, down, stay, come, and to walk nicely on a leash.  The class also deals with unwanted behaviors such as jumping up, digging, mouthing, etc. Socializtion emphasized. ( 6 sessions)
  • Advanced Basic Obedience Class is a more intensive sharpening of skills learned in the basic class. Emphasis is on handling distractions.  (Prerequisite of Basic Obedience is required)
  • Competitive Obedience Class (Rally-O) will further your canine's education while having fun. This is a class where enthusiasm and attitude are more important than precision.(Prerequisite of Advanced Basic Obedience Class is required)
  • Competition Obedience Classes - also available

      • Agility Classes

      • Introduction to Agility Class will provide you with an introduction to agility equipment and the basic skills required to run your dog on the agility course.  Fast paced and fun, you will build a close relationship with you dog while enjoying yourself in the process.  (Prerequisite of basic obedience skills: sit, down, stay, and come commands.)
      • Agility Level II Class provides an advanced instruction on agility obstacles. (Prerequisite of Introduction to Agility is required.)

      In addiition to regularly scheduled classes, the HSTC Dog Trainer and Humane Educator offer other classes including Puppy Classes and Pet Parenting.  Private Sessions at your residence or at the shelter are also available.
