In Martin County, we recognize that people may not want to evacuate their residence or leave their pets behind if they live in an evacuation zone.
Martin County Emergency Management, in conjunction with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast has planned for a Domestic Pet Friendly Sheltering Program for the citizens of Martin County. The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast will house your pet at their facility for residents who are recommended or ordered to evacuate.
Pre-Registration is required due to limited capacity. To pre-register, you will need to fill out three forms and mail to HSTC, 4100 S.W. Leighton Farm Avenue in Palm City, FL 34990 along with copies of veterinary records and proof of vaccinations. Or call (772) 223-8822 to have all necessary forms mailed to you.

Pets must have written proof of current vaccinations, identification and rabies tag. No sick animals will be accepted.
Supplies to bring to the shelter:
- Crate or cage large enough for your pet to stand up in and turn around
- Medicine/Prescriptions
- Food and treats
- Blanket or towel to sleep on
- Special diet food
- Leash and collar or harness
- Small comfort toys
